My Dreams: My dream in pursuing figure skating.

I came to think why do I pursue skating as my new sport, that sport gave me the freedom to move freely with charm and passion. My parents disagree on the sport due to it's danger but I have pure passion on this. So I came to master the elite style of skating moves like sit spin (one of the basic moves), counter clockwise jumps and axel jumps but I did these on the floor while I am not in the ice rink. I came to demonstrate my counterclockwise jump to my piano teacher and she said that I can do the jump. For me, there are possibilities to be a skater in an adult level.

The Ballgowns Galore

My modeling style of pictures where publish last year (2013) became a very memorable success to me. Especially to have aspirations of being a model not in fashion but in commercial. I would love to try high fashion model if I could. Modelling such ballgowns was my first modelling stint without any agency.

My Favorite Dance Songs

Here are my favorite dance songs that made me dance all day .. all night long.

The Brian Setzer Orchestra - Kiss Me Deadly

Was one of my favorites from the band after listening to their song "El Diablo" and it made me dance to this song.

Miley Cyrus - Wrecking Ball

This song also made me dance in a contemporary way. I came to think that I can feel the song with precious imagination that I can dance to this song in the skating rink.

Rihanna - Disturbia

Definitely reminding me of my freshmen year in high school, this song was played whilst having a fever and can't dance that time so this song reminded me of my math teacher and it made me dance with crazy moves. So going back to high school thingy, I used to woke up early in the morning then this song was played in the radio.

Jennifer Lopez - Ready For Tonight

After techno to jazz to slow dance, here comes Latin music and it's J-Lo who nailed that sexy song and this was reminding me of a mix of salsa and cha cha this was one of the songs to be included in my skating dance playlist.

Thalia - Tumba La Casa

From her telenovelas, to dance moves, to very touching ballads, here's Thalia with one of her dance song "Tumba La Casa" in which I've downloaded the song accidentally but with a shocking effect that made me wanna dance and move along with my own dance moves with a mixture of Latina dances as well.

Pharell Williams - Happy

The song sticks into my mind to be part of my skating dance list to be used in the future if I got a chance to skate. Remember that we were not just dancing for pleasure, we danced for our happiness that's why I included this on my list of my favorite songs too.

Recordings with Crystal Audio Productions

Trust Me was originally sung by American gospel singer and author Crystal Lewis. This song was one of my choices to record for good reasons. One is very suitable to my range and another is good for adlibs. If you want to listen click here on the title.

The Climb was originally sung by American singer and actress Miley Cyrus. In my arrangement of this song, I could showcase my operatic sound in the adlib part of the song or outro of the song. This was came into my mind after practicing my adlibs at home. If you want to listen click here on the title.

In behalf, I would like to thank Crystal Audio Productions for helping me out for this recordings. Hope to record my songs with you in the future.

My Birthday Production

My birthday performance during my 19th birthday (March 9) at the ASP Chapter Leaders' Conference with 3 of my favorite songs: "Wishing You Were Somehow Here Again", "Somewhere In The Dark" and "Let It Go" (as my birthday treat to my ASP family). Upon choosing my fave songs for the CLC, I used to be given a 30 minute performance but it was cut down to 15 minutes due to lack of time and that goes to other 3 performers for the lunch break time. In which I've prepared my music stand and just sing as part of the performance. This was my first time spending my salary to prepare on this extraordinary performance. From the music stands to hair extensions, I became very practical in buying what's needed and what's good. I was given time for reviewing my songs to perform, and I was able to use it wisely and it was used for vocalizations.

For my birthday speech, I made an expression "na-Michael Martinez ba d're?" it means I was honored by the audience and that's the meaning. I thank my fans, friends, audiences, and other people who helped me out for this birthday performance. I wish I could continue performing not only in singing but also in everything I can do like acting, dancing, and of course my new skill in skating. In my speech, I've tell the whole audience group that I will continue to inspire people and make a difference and of course I wont consider myself to be a loser but to be a winner in every heart of many fans around me.

The Sporty Side

...I am good at...
Bowling, I started bowling when I was 10 years old while having a trip with other special children at the Powerplant Rockwell Makati. I mastered the moves on how to hold the bowling ball and it's way too heavy then I focus a lot by looking at the pins. I also won the bowling match that time. Billiards, I was also proficient there but slightly technical when it comes to targets and it became my second sport. Swimming, was my first sport before bowling, it is important to a vocalist to strengthen your breathing and it is also part of the therapy for persons with autism in which I started doing the sport at 8 years old but I've stopped then I take back the sport at 18 as part of my class and I started gaining helps from my blockmates until my medical certificate was released before midterms, I was shocked that I am not fit to swim and I was asked to do a thesis regarding on my condition and swimming and it was proven that persons with autism is recommended to swim.

...Where it started
My devotion to sports came from my father and my twin brother. My father watched UFC wrestling, tennis and basketball then my brother watched NBA basketball. For me, I became devoted in sports after seeing a tennis competition especially seeing Sharapova. My first athlete idol that time was Maria Sharapova after seeing her endorsements in magazines and advertisements in which I have a lot of her pictures from the magazines.

Devotion to figure skating
Then I became devoted to figure skating after seeing Yuzuru Hanyu's and Michael Christian Martinez's performances in their own both short program and free skating in Sochi Olympics and I became more devoted in the sport when I watched tons of Hanyu's performances from his exhibitions to short programs to his very superb performances in his long program in which I named him my 2nd idol and favorite athlete and I almost cried everytime I saw his performances online. I also liked Yuna Kim, Patrick Chan and Adelina Sotnikova's performances. I was also inspired by Oksana Baiul, Midori Ito and Mao Asada for their very natural performances. I also watched the exhibition show called "The Ice" in which they could dance from samba, mambo, chacha to pop dance and I was inspired to dance because of this.

Growing love for aspirations on being an athlete
I was inspired to be a figure skater after being inspired by Yuzuru Hanyu's victory in the Sochi Olympics. Then I shared my devotion first to my parents and they disapproved for such health reasons then I didn't stop pushing my dreams for the sport then I shared my skating dreams to my friends and I shared my admiration to my fave athlete in skating and I started landing my first single axel in the floor that is tiles until I've shared it to my piano teacher and she said that I can do it after I landed my counterclockwise jump. I also shared this to my choir mates too and I considered them as my witness. I continued pursuing my favorite sport with working on with dance moves and visualization that I am in the ice rink.

"I almost gave up my dream in music"

There are times that you have to give up your dream due to personal, financial, health or other specific reasons. For me it's a mix of personal and financial reasons, to be honest ... I am here to share my insights on "almost gave up" my career in music.

Way back in 2011 of November, I used to be in a trio vocal band. Where we do some vocal ensemble where there are soprano, alto and melody (yeah as usual). I posted in a profile page that I have plans to leave the group for personal reasons. So it made a misunderstandings that I made an offense against the group and I do delete the post I've posted after someone told me to delete it. As a result, I performed in another special school (Kids Partner) as a classical singer since I was untrained that time at the age of 17. Apart from my departure from the trio group, I performed in the special school where my former therapists was a founder and it gave me a lot of happiness from my childhood when I was being with my former therapists.

So I started performing again in the 2012 edition of The Angel's Walk for Autism with my song "It's My Time" then the music was cut and I felt lonely inside but finished my song with applause. So this was the worst after quitting the group, I was also depressed and almost stressed out because of the incident. Some ignored me then some asks me a common questions. But in the end of the day I was on TV for a second, well at least it's an achievement for me before I graduated high school.

Then after many months of hiatuses, I received a phone call from my teacher in which she manage the group that I will be performing at the 2013 Angel's Walk For Autism and I told her my song and that was "Light Of A Million Mornings" and I've just practiced the song after listening to Laarni Lozada's rendition and I made myself sing into that song before going to my German class. As a result, I made a comeback now as a classical vocalist singing the gospel song "Light Of A Million Mornings" during the Angel's Walk in which many people wandered on my improvement in my voice and performances too. So I acquired my former success as a singer for ASP and I'm almost became an instant star to them inspite of mismanagement and misunderstandings from the past.

After my engagements in singing on stage, I was interested in "The Voice" so I submitted an audition video then I received a phone call from the management that I can do the blind auditions so I wish to go there and I got 50-50 because of my final exams so I've turned down the blind audition. So on my 18th birthday I made at least 10-12 turns to reach the audition booths for the same contest and I've got exhausted and lost of energy and that will affect your performance. So I sang 2 classical songs "The Prayer" and "Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin" and I have no callback. I also did my second try for the same contest (The Voice) and I sang "You Raised Me Up" and we were required to make our songs more of a fortississimo and we have our voice reach the stage very very high... and I didn't have any callback for the second time.

As a result, I almost gave up my career in music for these reasons. But I was motivated to perform after I performed at the 2014 Angels Walk for Autism I almost got hearts of fans who wanted me back for the ASP stages and I also signed up for the annual recital and it became a success and I almost receive a lot of good compliments. I wish in the upcoming auditions I will win roles and performances and seek more invitations all around.
